The need for consistently good teaching and high-quality assessment to provide effective learning has never been greater in apprenticeship provision.

Mindful of these challenges, GVS is delighted to announce the release of the upgraded Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Level 3 Year 1 course, featuring digital educational content that is mapped to Apprenticeship Standards and designed to support the required 20% off-the-job training.

What's new?

This latest release has been improved with six new features, aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning process:

1. We have added the 'About the course' page, which contains factual information about the course, including the course overview, learning outcomes, estimated number of learning hours required to complete it, and information about future progression following completion of the course.

2. We have introduced the 'Learning map' in each of the nine topics, to make the task of planning learning sessions easier and more transparent. It also provides tutors with the flexibility to select the most beneficial learning practices.

3. We have created the 'Diagnostic test' to help mentors assess the knowledge of their apprentices before they start the course.

4. Each topic has been enhanced with the addition of a 'Revision test' containing 30 questions designed to promote retrieval practices and boost knowledge retention in learners.

5. We have introduced the 'Apprenticeship toolkit' to help learners prepare for the End Point Assessment (EPA).

6. We have embedded into the course menu the 'How to work with i-GVS' animation to help new users become familiar with the interface and its features.
